The great advantage of the variable loft is - you get many brushes in one. With full extension it is a very soft and a little floppy brush, with full retraction it is a very stiff and tense brush. All degrees between are possible because of smooth transition between full extension and full retraction.
The badger hair is available in the typical Shavemac light bulb shape or in a more flat shape.
